Vacancy for a District Explorer Scout Commissioner

We are seeking a driven individual to support and develop our scouting provision for 14 to 18-year-olds, known as North Devon Taw Explorers.

North Devon Taw Explorers, consisting of Collard, Exmoor, and Young leader units, is a busy and dynamic District Explorer provision. An experienced and passionate team of leaders provide an exciting and diverse program of activities and residential experiences throughout the year. Taw Explorers also supports access to top scouting awards and the Duke of Edinburgh award schemes.

The leadership team requires support in all aspects of their role and as such the District Explorer Scout Commissioner will be responsible for the effective running of the Explorer provision this includes facilitating access to adult training, supervision of unit finances, and as a District trustee providing a direct link to the executive committee.

This is an incredibly rewarding role giving the right person the opportunity to work with both adults and young people to support the direction of Explorer scouting in North Devon.

The successful applicant will be over 18 years of age and be passionate about ensuring young people have every opportunity to realise their full potential. Previous experience of scouting may be useful, but is not required. Full training will be provided, including access to an internationally recognised management training scheme.
